Psalm 40:5 LORD my God, You have done many things—Your wonderful works and Your plans for us; none can compare with You. If I were to report and speak of them, they are more than can be told.
Many people like to journal about their walk with Jesus. This is an excellent way to look back and see how God has blessed you through His mercy and grace. John 21:25 tells us, “And there are also many other things Jesus did, which, if they were written one by one, I suppose not even the world itself could contain the books that would be written.” While it may be impossible to recall everything He has done for you, you can take time today to start a list of what you can think of and add to it at the end of each day. When you’re having a rough day take a look at your list and see how He has blessed you in the past.
This Psalm is one of thanksgiving and a cry for help. David recalls how God has given him many, many signs of His power and His love for him. The Lord protected him when his enemies pursued him and He provided for his needs. The Lord loves you with this same perfect, unconditional love. By remembering this and His past blessings you should feel peace, comfort, and encouragement. Glory be to God!!
Heavenly Father, thank You for Your love, grace, and mercy. During times of uncertainty, heartache, and distress help us to recall Your blessings, Your goodness and Your protection that You have given us in the past. From this may we realize that You are in control of all that is happening right now, You still love us with Your perfect love, and You have a plan for our lives. Lord, You give us peace and comfort that surpasses all understanding. Thank You!! In Jesus’ holy and precious name we pray. Amen.
